How can we help you
Stone grinding without adding water is called dry grinding, and adding water when grinding is called water grinding. So what's the difference? How to choose?
How Is Dry Grinding Different From Water Grinding?
At present, the mainstream of the market is mainly grinding, and most of them are made of artificial diamond particles and resin binders. Diamond is the diamond, and resin, broadly speaking, is a general term for various high molecular polymers that can be used as plastic raw materials.
The grinding of the stone causes the grinding disc to rub against the stone surface and generate high temperature under the speed and pressure of the machine. This temperature can melt normal resins. Poor quality discs are easily deformed.
Adding water to the stone water grinding can accelerate the heat dissipation, and the requirements for the composition of the grinding disc are slightly lower, and when the stone is dry grindinged, there is no effect of water, and the heat is slowly dissipated. Therefore, the resin used for the dry stone grinding disc must be high-quality resin that can withstand higher temperatures.
To put it simply: due to the composition, the dry grinding disc can be a water grinding, and the ordinary water grinding disc cannot be dry grindinged for a long time. The grinding disc made of high-quality resin can be dry or water grindinged.

How To Choose Grinding Discs?
No water is added during the dry grinding of the stone, and the heat dissipation is slow, so the resin used for the dry grinding pads must be high-quality resin with high temperature resistance.
Adding water during stone water grinding can accelerate the heat dissipation, and the requirements for the components of the grinding pads are slightly lower.
Due to the composition, dry grinding discs can be water grindinged, but ordinary water grinding discs cannot be dry grindinged for a long time. The grinding discs made of high-quality resin can be dry grindinged or water grindinged. Dry grinding is not absolutely without water. If the dark stone is found to be white during the grinding process, you can add a little water during grinding, so that the effect will be better.
1. When can choose the water grinding?
The high temperature generated during stone grinding can cause certain damage to the structural crystals of the stone. After the stone is burned at high temperature, it is prone to a series of problems such as loss of light, chipping, and powdering.
Adding water during stone grinding can accelerate the heat dissipation and reduce damage to the stone. The stone thrown out at the natural temperature of the water grinding is soft and shiny.
Under dry grinding conditions, due to the heat generated at the moment of friction, the crystal structure of the stone is destroyed to a certain extent, so the luster produced by dry grinding has the phenomenon of glare, ablation, dryness and insufficient transparency.
2. When can choose the dry grinding?
01. Stones that have not been protected:
Stones that have not been protected are easy to absorb water. If the surface of the stone is opened by water grinding, the water absorption of the stone will prolong the construction period. Therefore, for stone that has not been protected, before painting the protection, the surface can be opened by dry grinding, and the protective agent can be applied.
02. Grinding and polishing process:
The stone grinding, leveling and grinding optimization processes use water grinding, and in the grinding and polishing processes, dry grinding is used to speed up the light output. (The specific method is to use water grinding to grind to 1000 mesh, and the stone can be semi-dry or completely dry with less water or even no water. In practical applications, it will be found that this is a very practical technique that helps the stone to shine.)
03. Walls, corners, countertops:
The wall must be dry ground, because the wall does not have the conditions for water grinding. Imagine the client's beautiful living room, brand-new furniture, and the hand throwing machine throws the slurry everywhere...
After the stone is ground, the finishing work, such as the wall and the corner where the big machine cannot reach, can be done by dry grinding. As well as lines, small-area defects, repairing countertops, etc., dry grinding is more convenient.
